Igamba Child Development Center
The Igamba Child Development Center is located near Kampala, Uganda’s capital. The center is in a slum area where people live in homes made from mud with metal roofs and grass thatching. Igamba has the highest population growth rate in the country with a more than 1.5 million, most of whom are children. AIDS has spread throughout the area through the practice of polygamy and has killed over 50,000 people in the last decade. As a result, many children become orphans, uneducated, and malnourished. AMG has stepped into this heartbreaking situation to provide the children with food, clothing, education, Bible stories, and games. From Monday through Friday the center is open for both children and their parents to support and train them. The center is a place of hope for those ravaged by economic trouble, AIDS, and spiritual depravity. Most importantly, children are coming to the knowledge of Jesus and his love for them.
