Mt. Zion Medical Center
The Mt. Zion Medical Center is located in North Haiti, in an area called Camp-Coq that is a region of Limbe. Limbe proper covers about ten square miles and has a population of 13,000 people. Mt. Zion is about six miles from the center of Limbe. The clinic serves a concentration of local communities that otherwise would have long distances to travel and provides medical services that most of the surrounding communities could not normally afford or have access to. Before the clinic began operations in 2016 the Bethesda School of Camp-Coq would have two to five children die annually due to the parents not being able to send their children to the hospital due to the long distance away. After the first year of the clinics operation that number of children’s deaths from the school has dropped to zero.
